St. John Bosco Athletic Association Board Meeting
April 7, 2008
The meeting opened at 6:33 p.m. with the Lord’s Prayer. The following were in attendance: Steve Zikeli, Dave Stepanski, Ginny Heffner, Tony Landino, Joe Dubovec, Bev Gombarcik, Leah Armstrong.
I. Previous minutes reviewed and accepted – Joe/Bev
II. Treasurers report reviewed and accepted – Bev/Tony
III. Spring Season
a. Joe will be sending invoice to CYO for $800.
b. Joe Duff sent tournament dates. Some coincide with Washington D.C.
trip. Necessary arrangements will be made.
c. Field maintenance (Holy Name $25)
IV. Fall Season
a. Football registration: need to find out if there is interest in SJB football.
b. We will be sending a flyer with a return slip for interested parties.
c. Discussed possible football merger with Holy Family. Steve is lookinginto exact details. Nothing has been finalized yet.
d. Discussed SJB being a CYO site for volleyball and if we will have the
ability to get volunteers for concessions. Possibly be able to use high
school kids that need service hours.
V. Miscellaneous
a. Browns tickets were sold to benefit the teachers. We received check.
b. Athletic scholarship essays will be judged by Fr. Bill. Athletics will give one male and one female scholarship.
c. Discussed possible dates for Athletic Appreciation Picnic.
d. Jon Gorczyca suggested that we donate all old trophies to SpecialOlympics. We will keep trophies from the last 5 years in the case.
e. Discussed what funds are needed for future programs.
f. Voted to get hoodies and plaques for athletes that participated in sports for the last 4 years.
g. Decided not to have Indians fundraiser.
h. Voted to get concession workers a gift card each instead of a raffle.
i. Cavs fundraiser was a success.
j. Discussed possibility of getting t-shirts from Athletics for the end of theschool year.
