St. John Bosco Athletic Association Board Meeting
November 6, 2007
The meeting opened at 7:05 with the Lord’s Prayer. The following were in
attendance: Steve Zikeli, Dave Stepanski, Tony Landino, Ginny Heffner, Bev
Gombarcik, Joe Dubovec, Leah Armstrong.
I. Previous minutes reviewed and accepted – Bev/Tony
II. Treasurers report reviewed and accepted – Tony/Bev
a. Current budget does not include concessions or tournament money.
b. Finances are in good shape for this year.
III. Fall Season
a. Tony said football season went well. Varsity finished 2-5 and
JV finished 5-2.
b. Dave said the volleyball and flag football seasons went well.
c. Tony and Dave will be calling all coaches and having them remind
their teams to return their uniforms on Wednesday, November 14th.
d. Banquet will be Friday, November 16th at 6:30. Kim Ballash and
Terry Krawczyk will be taking care of details and sending home
a flyer through school.
IV. Winter Season
a. There will be 10 basketball teams.
b. 8th grade boys will have an A and B team. Official announcement of
team breakdown will be at the beginning of practice on Wednesday.
c. 7th grade boys will have two teams. Final split will be announced
by the end of the week.
d. Uniform issuance will be Wednesday, November 14th from 6:30-8:30.
Teams will come in ½ hour increments to expedite process. Board
members will split up responsibilities.
e. Regular season gym schedule of practices is up and posted by the gym.
f. We need to get volunteers to clean concession stand.
g. Tournament will run 4 weeks beginning January 28th through the
end of February. Steve created a mock schedule using 10 brackets.
h. High School CYO – possibly enough for one team of 9th & 10th grade
boys and one team of 11th & 12th grade boys. No female response as
of yet.
i. All coaches in question are attending coaches certification.
j. Discussed possibly having a night when people can come to SJB to
get fingerprinted in a 2 hour time frame.
k. Intramurals: Holy Family is currently looking for people to run
program.
l. CYO Basketball games will begin 12/9.
V. Miscellaneous
a. Discussed purchasing banners for the gym.
b. Possible December date for CYO Anniversary and speaker
Cindy McNight.
c. Need VP for Girls and Treasurer for next year.
d. Deadline for ordering Cavs tickets will be in February.
