St. John Bosco Athletic Association Board Meeting
September 11, 2007
The meeting opened at 7:06 with the Lord’s Prayer. The following were in attendance: Steve Zikeli, Dave Stepanski, Ginny Heffner, Bev Gombarcik, Joe Dubovec, Leah Armstrong.
I. Previous minutes reviewed and accepted – Joe/Bev
II. Treasurers report reviewed and accepted – Leah/Ginny
III. Fall Season
a. Football campout was Friday, September 7th and Athletics paid for pizza and breakfast items.
b. Intramural Football sign-ups will be September 12th in the pavilion from
6-7.
Dave sent home registration information through the school and St. Bridget’s.
c. Volleyball Tournament will begin September 24th. Steve will order trophies
and t-shirts.
Bev is working on schedules. We are low on volunteers.
d. Rich is no longer available to run concession stand.
Terry Krawczyk is willing to take over concession stand and will meet with Steve
to discuss.
e. Fall Sports Banquet will be Friday, November 16th at 6:30 in the Bell Tower.
f. Uniform return date will be Tuesday, November 13th from 6:00-7:30.
IV. Winter Season
a. Registration will be Tuesday, September 25th from 6:00-7:00 in the Pavilion and Monday, October 1st from 6:30-7:30 in the Bell Tower.
b. Discussed having Cindy McNight as a speaker for coaches and all parents
whose children participate in athletics.
Possible date Tuesday, November 20th.
This year is the 75th anniversary for CYO.
Discussed combining speaker night with a St. John Bosco CYO Alumni night and
having a potluck dinner.
V. Miscellaneous
a. Golf outing update: Board is working on getting prizes.
b. Abitibi: Two bins are in front parking lot. Flyer went home through school
and will be in bulletin to explain items that can go in bins.
Checks will be sent to Athletics once a month.
c. Discussed Cavs, Indians and Bowling nights for fundraisers and possible dates.
d. Volunteers: We need more.
e. Athletic Director: Dave Stepanski has accepted the position of Athletic Director for next year.
f. Discussed sprucing up the gym by purchasing a Bosco Bears banner and
possibly getting some inspirational plaques with motivational sayings.
g. Discussed getting kids during lunch to organize trophy case.
