Evangelization Meeting – November 13, 2006
Present: Dave Fuente, Janet Fuente, Jack McLauglin, Colleen Amoroso, Jeannette Brennan, Carolyn Morris, Terry Morris, Marge Mihoci, Jerry Bowers, Mary Ann Bowers, Becky LaNasa, Barb Sekerak, Kay Thomson and Kim Nestelle
Jeannette Brennan opened the meeting with a prayer. We also included those who are sick, our visitors and new parishioners. St. Peter’s sent a thank you card expressing their appreciation for all of the information the Evangelization committee shared with them. St. Peter’s would like to have a “walk” in their parish. We encouraged them in their plans and pledged to help in any way. Dave will e-mail them and tell them we will continue to keep them in our prayers. Dave asked everyone to put their names on the sign-up sheet for the Masses on December 2nd and December 3rd, the start of Advent. After some discussion it was decided that since the theme for Advent is forgiveness, along with the Giving Tree for Christmas, we would have a small Forgiving Tree in the back of the church. Father will give a short talk and explain reason for the handouts. The handouts will be on the tree and in the fishbowl for folks to take and will remain in the back of the church until the end of the year. Dave Ols of Ripepi Funeral Home is providing the Chaplet of Mercy prayer cards to give to each family at Christmas. Dave will have a schedule soon for the Christmas Masses. We can then sign up for the Masses in order to hand out the prayer cards. During open discussion Barb Sekerak talked about the Diocesan Stewardship Workshop for 2006 that will be held at St. Jude’s in Elyria on Tuesday, November 14. The workshop will include seminars on various topics that relate to stewardship. We agreed to help pass out the stewardship booklets once they become available. Jerry Bowers would like the committee to look at a DVD that several members have already viewed. It is the “Feast of Faith” (The Transforming Power of the Eucharist”) by Marcellino D’Ambrosio, Ph.D. There are four subjects and a booklet for discussion. The committee agreed to view the DVD after Christmas as part of a meeting. This topic ties in with what Father Dave preaches about the Eucharist. As a future project we would like to open it up to the parish as part of an Adult Education series pending Father Dave’s approval. Dave reminded us of our goal to each bring in one new member to join us. The next meeting will be Monday, November 27th at 7:00 PM. Dave Fuente led the group in the closing prayer.
