Evangelization Meeting – October 2, 2006
Present: Dave Fuente, Janet Fuente, Jack McLauglin, Colleen Amoroso, Jeannette Brennan, Carolyn Morris, Terry Morris, Marge Mihoci, Jerry Bowers, Barb Sekerak and Kim Nestelle
Barb Sekerak opened the meeting with a prayer.
Jerry Bowers stated that he is very impressed with the tremendous spirit of the group and said scheduling for the Adoration Chapel is going well. The Evangelization committee has taken the task of manning the 4:00 AM-5:00 AM hour every Wednesday in the chapel.
Dave reminded everyone to meet at 6:30 PM in the chapel and walk in as a group the first Thursday every month for Benediction and Mass.
The meeting with St. Peter’s went well. Dave has not heard from either Deacon John or Elaine but he will contact them sometime this week. St. Peter’s had asked for input on doing a “walk” for St. Peter’s parish. We offered to help them in any way that it is needed. We shared the logistics of planning a walk and how it was executed. We stressed that they just do it now.
We need to grow the committee with new members. The discussion centered on how to attract young people to offer fresh ideas. Dave is going to contact Samantha, the young lady who helped us after the Masses on Christmas, and get her input.
Christmas generated a lot of discussion of what we want to do as far as what we will give to the parishioners attending the Christmas Masses. The following is a list of ideas suggested by Jerry, Jack, Jeannette, Barb and Dave: - Living nativity - A card that would state this card is for you to give to a friend, family member, someone that you had a falling out with to say ‘I am sorry” and offer an apology and ask for forgiveness - Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. There would be a picture on one side and the prayer on the other side - A caricature of Charlie Brown and friends pointing to a star with the words, “ Behold the Star, Spread the good Word, our Savior is born!” asking them to pass on the card - Two turtle doves – have one to keep and one to give away
Barb thanked everyone for the baskets that were raffled off at the International Festival.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, October 9th, at Jack McLaughlin’s home at 7:00 PM. The address is 13991 Heatherwood Drive.
Dave closed the meeting with a prayer that included Jim Keegan and all the sick.
