The meeting opened with the Prayer of Jabez.
The new parishioner luncheon is Sunday, September 30th at 1:00 PM. We will attend the 9:30 AM Mass as a group on Sunday and after the Mass help Nancy with the preparations for the luncheon. Ninety-three invitations were sent out and twenty-five attending the luncheon. Marge and Dolores will man the sign- in table and Jack will make a sign that says, “Welcome New Parishioners Please sign in”. Sandwiches, snacks and soda will be served. We have two goals:
learn about the ministries at St. John Bosco
make them feel very welcome in our parish family.
Terry talked about the banner for the Evangelization Commission. After shopping around for prices he learned that Fran Urban and Dorothy Rapacz made the banner for the Ladies’ Guild. He will contact them to find out the cost of the materials and if they would be willing to make a banner for Evangelization. Discussion followed regarding what would be on the banner. It was decided to place a fish in the middle with Evangelization Commission on the top and St. John Bosco on the bottom.
Dave reminded everyone that as part of Evangelization we are to wear our nametags and greet folks and be friendly as they enter the church for Mass.
Because prayer is most important Dave asked that we support the Right to Life group and join them in saying the rosary at Incarnate Word the first Monday of every month.
Barb Sekerak asked that we add Jeanne Trapp to our prayers. Jeanne was an original member of the Evangelization Commission and is now studying to be a nun.
Mr. Heller signed the guest book and indicated he would like to receive envelopes. Dave has his telephone number and address. Carolyn and Fran volunteered to take the envelopes, along with an application, to his home.
Start thinking Christmas! The Santa Claus idea was turned down because Father does not want commercialism. When Father Dave gives his approval for the Christmas idea, our very talented artist, Fran, will draw a picture and we can add a caption to it.
The next meeting will be Monday, October 1st. We will join Pro Life at Incarnate Word to pray the rosary at 6:00 PM and then have a short meeting afterwards.
