Minutes of January 9, 2007

School Budget

Mrs. Updegrove presented her proposals for the school year 2007 – 2008.

After considerable discussion, it was determined that additional information was required to clarify the proposals.

One controlling factor will be enrollment and this should be evident by the next meeting.

 

The proposal for a Spanish language program will be referred to the School Advisory Committee for a recommendation on implementation.

It was determined that there would be no increase in tuition for the coming year.

It will be necessary to increase the Technology fee by $25 per student to cover the cost of our hardware contracts.

This contract expires in 2007 and replacement planning must begin soon.

A letter will be sent to the school parents this week announcing the tuition and fees.

 

A preliminary budget for the 07 – 08 year has been completed.

The SAC will review it and make recommendations in areas other than staff compensation.

 

Compensation Changes

Several different plans were discussed on the compensation plan for fiscal year 07 – 08.

A percentage increased across the board for all employees and clergy was approved. It will be effective in July.

 

Roof Repairs

The recognized need to roof repairs for sacristy, skylight and drain on school roof was discussed.

A significant flood occurred this weekend in the principal’s office this weekend.

This was related to the additional drains planned for the school roof.

The funding, estimated at $32,000 plus drains will come from 2007 Festival proceeds and will reimburse the account used to pay for the repairs, which have to be completed in the spring.

 

New Bingo Machine

A proposal was made to purchase a 10-year-old Bingo console to replace our current unit.

The council requested a cost analysis of the purchase of the used machine verses a new machine.

 

Landscaping Contracts

No proposals have been received as yet.
