Meeting began at 7:05 with prayer led by Dan.
Review of Town Hall Meeting
Dan thought it was well presented and many left with a positive attitude. Jim sensed apprehension from the people present and there were many questions. Mary said that some were shocked and angered. Father Dave is optimistic about having close to 30 in each class by April or May. The school will be open no matter what the class size. Marty Jacob’s leaving has nothing to do with the school changes. Pat said there is some negativity within the school from the students. Father Dave said we did not market the school this year because there may not be room for extra students. Father Dave wants to have dollars available for aid for tuition through Adopt a Family (give a specific amount of money to a specific family) or Adopt a Student (pledging money to a fund). Adopt a Family would be more personal. Two teachers have resigned and Father Dave thinks maybe more will before next school year. He wants a new principal in place by mid-March, and he would like to announce soon to families that we will have a tuition assistance program for the upcoming year.
PTU Update
Mary said that Catholic Schools Week begins Sunday, January 29.
Family Life Update
Mike said that Toboganning Night went well – 360 people attended. The staff there was great to work with. They served pizza, gave away a TV set, and had crafts for the children. There will be a possible pancake breakfast at Easter.
PSRUpdate
Cathy said there will be a new PSR secretary for the next school year because Leah Armstrong will be moving to the secretarial position at the school. Some physical changes in PSR may take place next year due to the day school changes.
International Festival
Father Dave said the festival will be held August 17-20. It will have more of an “International” theme this year with more ethnic food, dancing, and entertainment. We will have food vendors this year. Slated to perform so far are Shout and Bruno Brothers. We may possibly raffle off a car at the festival.
Meeting adjourned at 8:55 with prayer led by Father Dave.
Next regular scheduled meeting will take place on February 28, 2006. |
