School Updates - Father Dave

Father Dave stated the library is in the process of moving and will be done this week.  The move is going nicely and is very well organized.  There is still a little bit of “tweaking” to be done regarding the placement of classrooms.  Doug (Hill) is working on pricing.  The air conditioning will be a major consideration in the pricing.  Father has asked the faculty to label those items they would like to have in their new location.  The move will begin June 12.  Extra items will be in the gymnasium.  St. Barnabas has expressed an interest in surplus desks.

Vibrant Parish Life II (VPL II)- Father Dave

Father Dave mentioned there are basically two committees associated with VPL II.  The first committee involves a study and recommendations and the second committee is involved more in the education aspect of the program.  Tom Halloran and Marty Zanotti have expressed an interest to be involved, probably on the study/recommendation committee.

The conversation led to the new bishop and Dan Zawadzki offered to prepare a letter of welcome to the diocese and extend an invitation to visit our parish.

PTU/School- Mary Kukich

The new principal, Eileen Updegrove, attended the PTU meeting.  Inflatables were at the school on May 17.  The school attended the Indians game on May 18 and Grandpals Day was May 19.  The 8th grade has their Washington trip.  The 7th and 8th graders performed Godspell Junior.  The Tribute to the Faculty Mass was Sunday, May 21 at 11:30 am.  The 8th grade Mass will be on June 6th.  June 9th will be the last school Mass for this year and also the last day of school with early dismissal.  The first day of school for the 2006-2007 school year will be August 30th.

Father Dave added that Heather Bober will be staying and that he made arrangements for her to be given the first offer of any openings that may become available the following year.

Family Life – Dan Zawadzki (per Mike Mucic)

The Garage Sale sold 50 tables at $20 each.  The profit realized was $750.  Mike mentioned to Dan about a sign at the International Festival.  Father said he should talk to Doug Hill since he has a contact person for the signs.  Father Dave also added that a Chevrolet Cobalt would be involved in the raffle or a $12,000 voucher to Integrity.

PSR Updates – Cathy Brown

PSR is out of session until the fall.

Parish International Festival – Father Dave

Father Dave said the festival would have more of an “international flavor” this year.  The entertainment has been scheduled with Shout featured on Thursday, Al Nowak with German music on Friday, Bruno Brothers on Saturday.  There will also be a Japanese Drum Core, Italian Sons and Daughters, and Demetri the Greek.  On Sunday, there will be a Polka Band and Barley Corn showcasing Irish Music.  Irish dancing will also be featured.  Seven vendors will be paying $1,000 for four days.  Father Dave would like to have a food booth possibly with pierogis.

Finance Council – Father Dave

St. Charles Credit Union has offered a $300 scholarship to an 8th grader involved with the credit union.  The electronic funds transfer (EFT) option will be handled by St. Charles.

In order for the diocese to approve the school renovations, a letter had to be written with a payment arrangement for back assessments.  The discussion of school renovations led to the topic of possibly having a Hot Meal program at the school.  Father Dave said he is open to the idea if enough people are interested and it is feasible.  Jim Gutoskey cautioned that the equipment needed can be very costly.  It was decided that the topic be revisited once the “dust has settled”.

Other Issues and Topics

Kathy Jasany mentioned that Stewardship wanted to be involved in Donut Sunday.  Kathy will contact Barb Sekerak with updates to the parish calendar.
