St. John Bosco Pastoral Council

April 22, 2008

The meeting began at 7:05 pm with a prayer led by Dan Zawadzki


 

School Updates - Father Dave

Due to the school closing, there will be a flower sale with proceeds benefiting the faculty. Order forms are due April 25th. The PTU will be sponsoring a fundraiser in celebration of the school on Saturday, May 17th. Bruno will be catering the event and there will be sideboards. Tickets are $20.00 and all are invited. There will be a mass Celebrating the School on June 1st at 11:30 am. A bring-your-basket picnic will be held on the church grounds and all are invited. Eileen Updegrove, the school principal, will be going to St. Charles. St. Bridget will be receiving the smart boards. The library and the computer lab will be used for expansion of the childcare center.

Father Dave mentioned that he was contacted regarding an interest in the leasing of the upstairs area of the school. Should anything transpire, he will keep us informed.

On June 10th, the school will be emptying and parent volunteers will be needed to help move.

 

Vibrant Parish Life II (VPL II) – Dan Zawadzki

The cluster meetings continue with St. Peter the Apostle, Assumption and St. Bridget. We are working on combining various ministries.


 

PSR Updates – Richard Hahn

On April 26th, there will be first communions at the 9:30 and 11:30 masses with Father Dave presiding. On May 4th, there will also be first communions at the 9:30 and 11:30 masses. Bishop Quinn will be presiding. The closing mass for PSR will be on May 5th at 7:15 pm. PSR teachers will be needed for the 5th grade as well as junior high level.


Doughnut Sunday – Kathy Jasany

On May 4th the Support Group and Pro-Life will be sponsoring doughnut Sunday. On June 1st it will be the Holy Name Society and the Evangelization Committee.

 

International Festival – Father Dave

The festival will take place August 21st - 24th. Great Lakes Expedition will be handling the rides. North Olmsted will be having their festival the same weekend. The entertainment has already been booked. We will need many volunteers. The high schoolers can help in the area of parking in order to fulfill their community service requirement.

The meeting ended at 8:40 pm.

The next Parish Council meeting will be May 27, 2008 at 7:00 pm.
