MINUTES OF MEETING

St. John Bosco Pastoral Council

April 24, 2007


 

- The meeting began at 7:10 pm with a prayer led by John.

- Minutes from the March 27, 2007 meeting were approved.

 

School and Preschool Update

- 245 students are registered for next school year.

 

VPL II

- A diocesan workshop will be held in June. Dan Zawadzki, Tom Halloran,

Carol Polefko and Marty Zanotti will represent our parish.

- A composite summary was handed out by Father Dave. Parish staff will update the composite by May 15, and it will be presented to Parish Council at our next meeting.

-An assessment of staff and ministries will be done.

-Bishop Lennon will address issues in a letter to each parish stating concerns and challenges. Assessments in arrears will no doubt be a topic for SJB.


Family Life Ministry

- Five couples are now involved with the ministry and are developing new plans and events.

 

PSR

- No updates

 

Doughnut Sunday

- Next Doughnut Sunday is May 6, 2007, sponsored by the Support Group and Pro-Life Ministry.

- There has been some discussion about selling school coupons at Doughnut Sunday, (cash sales), to aid the tuition assistance fund. This is a possibility for the fall.


International Festival

- Raffle will be the same as last year.

- A planning meeting for booth captains will be scheduled soon.

- More festival activity will begin in May.


Future Events

- There is good cooperation from parish organizations to plan our farewell celebration for Father John.

- Dan has a list of possible plans.

- Parish Council members will give some thought to a gift from our group.


Other Updates/Items for Discussion

- Discussed the need for new members. Please send recommendations to Father Dave.

- Discussed parish directory, ministry fair, town hall meetings and our mission statement.

We need to develop new ideas like these.

- A new caterer, Bruno DiSienna, has been selected to operate the Bell Tower on a trial basis.

- Our next meeting will be May 22, 2007.

- Richard led the group in a closing prayer.
