St. John Bosco Pastoral Council
June 24, 2008
Present: Teri Coury, Vicki Formanik, Richard Hahn, Kathy Jasany, Father Dave Liberatore, John Powers,
Absent: Loretta Saintz, Pat Kelly, Jim Gutosky, Dan Zawadzki
§ The meeting began at 7:10 with the opening prayer led by John Powers.
§ Update provided by Father Dave.
§ A lease was signed by the Diocese with the Positive Education Program (PEP) for one year.
o This is a non-profit organization funded by 27 school districts throughout the state.
o The PEP Harbor Program will be using the SJB School. It will have 80 Autistic students up to 18 years of age, along with 80 personnel.
o They will be using the 1st floor of the school which is about 16,300 sq. ft. of the campus. This is about 17%.
o There will be a wall constructed to separate the Day Care entrance from the PEP entrance to the gym.
o PEP will be renovating the school by adding A/C and replacing the carpeted areas with new floors.
o The school will operate on Monday – Friday from 8:00a.m. To 3:00 p.m.
o The PEP program will be paying for about 33% of snow removal and will have their own maintenance company to care for the school areas they will be using.
o PEP is expected to start in August, 2008.

§ It has been decided that Assumption of Mary in Brook Park will be closing. New boundaries need to be set by the Bishop.
§ Currently the cluster is studying various parish ministries to determine which ministries will be combined.
§ The plan must be in place by 2010.

§ Posters will be passed out starting this Sunday.
§ Raffle tickets for the car should be in the mail soon.
§ There has been a booth captains meeting.
§ Vendors have been set.

§ This group will be starting up again.
§ They would like to schedule 3-4 family events per year.
§ They need a fundraiser to help with the cost of the events.

§ The PSR classrooms will be held in the various carpeted rooms and in the Bell Tower.

§ Father Dave would like to start a Youth Ministry program in October, 2008.
o The program will include four components:
§ Spiritual
§ Instructional
§ Social
§ Athletic
o Please submit names of parents, adults and young adults to help start this ministry to Fr. Dave.
§ Father Dave would like to have a casino night in February, 2009.
§ Loretta Saintz has stepped down from Parish Council due to moving her children to another school.
§ Submit suggestions for new members to Dan or Fr. Dave.
