BOARD MEETING
JANUARY 9, 2007
Meeting was called to order at 7:05pm, by Paula Stepanski.
Paula led the group in prayer.
Paula welcomed the board members back after the Christmas break, and added that
Mrs. Updegrove would not be in attendance this evening, as she was joining the
finance council.
A motion to dispense with the reading of the November minutes made by Kim Ballash,
Motion seconded by Renee Warren.
REPORTS FROM EXECUTIVE BOARD AND STANDING COMMITTEES:
GAYLE DUBOVEC, TREASURER:
Our current balance is $8,229.00. / $5,000 of that is the deposits for the bowling league, and will be paid out to Yorktown Bowling.
MARY ANN PALKO, 1ST VICE PRESIDENT:
We are working on a Moo Town Night as a fundraiser in March. They can do a two-day combo on a Tues. & Weds., or a Weds., & Thurs. Mary Ann will check with Mrs. Updegrove as to any possible date conflicts. SJB PTU will get 20% of the total sales.
Family Night Bingo is tentatively scheduled for April 17th. We will check with the Bell Tower for any conflicting dates.
DEBBIE HANNAN, 2ND VICE PRESIDENT:
Report given by Paula Stepanski; January 20th is the next Market Day. All help is appreciated.
APRIL HARRIGAL, SECRETARY:
If you have an article for the February newsletter, please submit it to me by January 26th . The February newsletter will go home on Thursday, February 1st .
MARY MERICKA, FRIENDS:
Nothing to report. Paula Stepanski added that we have had an overwhelming response for the Manzuk family. Carol Vogel asked if she could organize meals and other volunteers for the family. Paula agreed. Paula added that the PTU donated $200 to the Minosky family to help with their house fire just before Christmas, and that the PTU will donate the same amount to the Chris Manzuk fund. All board members agreed.
JUDY FILUT, COLLECTIVE FUND RAISING:
We should be getting a check for $1,000 from the last Box Tops Contest. She questioned if we should have a spring contest or wait until fall. Paula added to put a notice in the newsletter that we will wait until fall, so families will know to hold on to them, or send them in if they wish.
Our current Giant Eagle points are 139. At the conclusion, Mrs. Updegrove will select from the rewards book. Possibly will ship a bundle of Tyson labels in April.
KIM BALLASH & TERRY KRAWCZYK, HOT MEAL:
Report given by Kim Ballash; Only a short notice was given for the 2nd Semester Hot Meal Forms. In May, a Hot Meal conflicts with the 8th Grade Washington trip. The 8th Graders will receive their hot meal when they return the following week.
The next Hot Meal is Wednesday, January 17th . It is KFC.
Help with tallying and counting money next week will be appreciated.
ELAINE EDELBAUER & JULIE GOTRO, MEMBERSHIP:
No news to report.
RENEE WARREN, SCHOOL PROGRAMS:
Wednesday, April 25th , COSI on Wheels will be coming to SJB. Set-up will be on the 24th , and 2-3 people are needed for that. On Weds., approx. 20 Volunteers will be needed for that day to help at the tables with the children. Renee will use a list of volunteers that Julie Gotro had put together from the membership drive.
MICHELLE ZABKO & MARY LANDINO, ROOM MOTHERS:
Report given by Michelle Zabko; Tues., Jan. 30th , will be the teacher’s luncheon during Catholic Schools Week. Room mothers will be asked to sit with the students from 12:00-1:15pm. She will check with the pre-school teachers to have some of their parents cover their classes.
PAULA STEPANSKI, PRESIDENT:
Catholic Schools Week is January 28th - February 2nd , 2007.
Sunday will be a mass, and Open House; Monday is All-School Bingo; Tuesday is Community Recognition with a Faculty Luncheon (Renee & Judy volunteered to make centerpieces & favors). We will have an Italian theme this year. Wednesday is a School Mass & recognition for volunteers; Thursday & Friday will be a family picnic lunch with your children, corresponding with the letter of your last name.
Flyers for the PTU Wing Ding Fund Raiser have gone home in the Thursday folders. Paula has received a lot of calls for tickets. It will be February 9th from 6-9pm. We will need volunteers to help pass out wristbands at the door and to sell sideboards . This will be done in shifts so all can enjoy the evening. We will have 2 different colored bands; over 21 & under 21. Chris Kall is putting together some baskets for us to raffle off. Others may do so also. Paula will check with other SJB groups to see if they would like to donate a basket. Questions were raised as to whether or not we could bring in desserts. Paula will check with Scorekeepers. This will be a fun night. Please come & bring friends.
Paula added to watch for a flyer to come home to help with food/salads/desserts for the faculty luncheon.
